Home – Mouthguards
Mouthguards are a vital piece of sporting equipment that protects your teeth during any contact sport and even sports where contact is not likely but extremely dangerous, such as tennis.
For the sake of comfort and to reduce soft tissue damage, a custom-fitted guard will always perform far better than something off the shelf, which can be so poorly designed that as the impact occurs, it flies out of your mouth just when you need it most.
As an adult, higher grades and thicknesses are appropriate for higher risk sports, we have more information for children here.
A mouthguard is a custom made flexible device you place over your teeth inside your mouth that is designed to protect your teeth from the force of an impact.
Our mouthguards are extremely impact resistant and laminated to the exact shape of your teeth, which makes the force disperse across the teeth and bone, reducing the likelihood of severe damage.
A sports mouthguard is essential for adults, even if you are in an amateur team. We are often asked which sports need a mouthguard, so here’s a shortlist and if your sport is not here, call us on 03 9568 0222 to find out the recommendation on wearing one.

The good news is that most health funds cover one single colour mouthguard a year so an adult splint is affordable. If you’d like further colours for your team, a small charge may apply.
Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks.
Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
