What are Dental Implants?

Dental Implants are the most advanced treatment option for replacing teeth. Quite simply, dental implants look and feel like real teeth. In addition, dental implants replace missing teeth without relying on the support of teeth adjacent to the gap. A dental implant is a metal (usually titanium) screw placed into the upper or lower jaw bone which acts as a foundation for many different restorations in the absence of natural teeth. We will refer you to a specialist dentist (periodontist) for placement of the dental implant. Once healed, we will provide you with the restorations here at Chadstone Dental Surgery. Implant crowns can be made from the same materials as standard crowns.

Single crown:

The implant screw acts as the root of the tooth being replaced. a crown is made to attach directly to this screw. any necessary adjustments are made, you now have a new tooth!

Bridge:

An area with multiple missing teeth can be restored with two or more dental implants. A series of connected crowns are affixed at the ends to the placed implants.

Dentures:

Full dentures can be attached to two or more implants to dramatically improve stability, comfort and appearance.
